Claiming My Bestfriend's Alpha Dad

Claiming My Bestfriend's Alpha Dad

Reads

He is the man I am forbidden to want. My best friend’s father. The ruthless Alpha who commands every room he enters. And the subject of my darkest, most delirious fantasies. Elara has spent years admiring Kaelen from a respectful distance, a safe distance dictated by pack law and common sense. He is older, colder, and impossibly dominant—everything she fears and everything she craves. But when a Pack Gala puts them in too close quarters, the careful walls she’s built begin to crumble. When Kaelen’s rough thumb traces the line of her lower lip, the fantasy ceases to be a secret dream and becomes a dangerous, waking reality. He knows her desire, and he is not a man to ignore a challenge. As the lines between pack duty and primal need blur, Elara finds herself caught in a storm she cannot escape. Terrified of the consequences, she is absolutely desperate for him to ruin her, knowing that once he does, nothing will ever be the same.

Jamie!" The world stopped. The arrow hit its mark—his chest—and everything shattered. Time slowed, the battlefield fell silent. The air turned cold, unnaturally so, as if the gods themselves had held their breath. Jamie collapsed, his body hitting the ground with a sickening finality that echoed louder than any war cry. It was like the aftermath of an atomic blast: no sound, just the ringing in my ears and the distant roar of heartbreak. I ran. Shoving aside anyone in my path—friend or foe—I dropped to my knees beside him, gathering his limp form in my arms. "No, no—Jamie, stay with me. Look at me. We’re winning, remember? We’re almost through this. We made a promise—after the war, the cabin by the lake, where we had our mating ceremony... We’ll go back there. Just us. No titles. No battles. Aiden and Emma will stay with Erick and Hank—they love them. We’ll finally get that time. Just us. Just peace." Blood trickled from his mouth as he coughed, his hand twitching in mine. "Erick!" I screamed over the mindlink. "Get over here—he’s in pain, I can’t stop the bleeding!" Erick’s voice came, flat and steady. "He doesn’t want you to stop it." "What the hell are you talking about?!" Another voice, this one behind me, grave and resigned: "Luna, the Alpha ordered us to see the mission through. No matter what. We have to kill Icarus. It’s the only way to secure the future of the pack." I whipped around, my voice splintering like glass. "So we just let him die?! Why? Why him? Why now? Haven’t we given enough?!" I turned back to Jamie, cradling him tighter as though sheer will could reverse what had already begun. My tears soaked his shirt. "Goddamn it! Someone help me!" I sobbed, pressing my hands against the wound, trying to keep him here, grounded, alive. "Selena… Artemis… please. Don’t take him. I’ll do anything, I swear—just don’t let him die." I felt the goddess before I heard her. Selena’s voice entered my mind like moonlight—soft, sorrowful. "There’s only so much we can do, Peyton. Fate cannot be undone. But you will be with him again. That, too, is written." "No!" I howled. "A second away from him is too long. A lifetime? I can’t—he’s my soul." The bond between us stretched thinner, fraying at the edges. I felt the weight of eternity trying to tear him away from me. "I’ll give up everything—stop transitioning, make him stop too. Just let us live. Isn’t that what you want? Balance? Punish me instead." "This is not punishment," Artemis whispered. "It is the path forged by your own love. He goes to protect it." Jamie’s hand lifted weakly, brushing my tear-streaked cheek with the last of his strength. His smile—small, tired—still held that fire I’d fallen for. "Fuck fate," he rasped, his voice barely a breath. "You know I’d never wear a dress." A watery laugh broke from my chest. "And I’d never be caught dead without eyeliner. We're both too damn stubborn, huh?" "Promise me…" he whispered. I leaned in close, forehead against his. "Anything." “Do you remember what we said… if anything ever happened?” My chest tightened. "The Terminator thing?" He gave the ghost of a laugh. "Do we still… have to watch it?" "Yeah," I choked. "Even if we have to watch it in the afterlife." He coughed again, weaker now. “I think… I have to go.” "No. No, please, not yet. Not like this." I held him tighter, as though I could anchor his soul to mine. "Jamie… please." His hand settled over mine. “You know where to find me.” We said it together, through tears, through pain, through a bond stretching into eternity: "When the moon is at its brightest, meet me where the light meets the dark." I kissed him one last time. His lips were warm for a second longer, and then— Only cold. Only silence. And then the sky split open, and the war began again.
